I remember that moment on January 16th, 2015 when I first laid eyes on my first son, Jaxson, and I promised him the world... Autism does not change that.
About 1 in 59 children are being diagnosed with autism. My 4 year old son, Jaxson, is one of those children. Jaxson was diagosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 2-3 in June of 2018. Currently he is pretty nonverbal but we are working with multiple speech therapists and introducing more and more sign language. We want to do our part as an autism family and raise awareness for the autism community.
As a parent, you will always have good days and bad... but as an autism parent, I watch my child struggle on a daily basis. I watch him try to work out the world around him. Yet every day he shows how to be a better person and I find myself trying to be more like him. Jaxson has the biggest heart for a 4 year old that I've ever seen. He doesn't judge people or let their judgements affect him. He sticks to his true self with crazy outfits, old beat in shoes, or no clothes at all! No matter how hard his struggles get he just keeps on fighting and never gives up. I am determined to give Jaxson the best life possible and help him be successful so that one day, he can do big things for this world.
