Welcome to My Personal Page
Hi Friends & Family!
This November, I will be running the New York City Marathon with Autism Speaks Team Up. I am so excited to fulfill a personal goal, while supporting a charity that is close to my heart.
As many of you know, my older brother, Eric, has autism spectrum disorder. During our childhood, Eric was nonverbal, would frequently tantrum and preferred to spend his time alone. Today, Eric holds two jobs, lives independently, cooks, does his own laundry, and loves his Monday night dinners with friends. Although he still makes me mute the GPS, lets me know when our conversations are over, “I’m done talking about it,” and when I’ve overstayed my welcome, “Goodbye Carly!” after a five minute visit, he has surpassed my hopes and dreams and I am so proud of him.
The education, resources and commitment of my family and many of you have greatly contributed to his success. It is my hope that all those affected by autism spectrum disorder have access to services that enable them to reach their full potential.
Autism Speaks provides invaluable resources, online tools and information for individuals with autism and their families. Additionally, Autism Speaks works to promote solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, through advocacy and support, increasing understanding and acceptance and advancing research into causes and better interventions.
I greatly appreciate your support for Autism Speaks as I run for my brother, and all those impacted by autism.
