Why Jacqueline Is Running The NYC Marathon...
You might be thinking right now does Jacqueline even run? Nope. I do not. In fact I tried running 1 mile on Tuesday, April 23rd 2019 and I had to stop and walk 4 times. This is going to be quite the experience, but who doesn’t like a good challenge? This will not only help me become more physically fit, but I get to give back to a cause that is so important to me!
I chose to run with Autism Speaks because I have dedicated part of my practice to helping families with loved ones with special needs plan financially. This has opened my eyes to the importance of organizations like Autism Speaks as The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates 1 in 59 children is on the autism spectrum. This organization is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. They empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information.
Autism Speaks enhances lives today and is accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow.
Join me in my efforts to support Autism Speaks! Any donation would be greatly appreciated- no donation is too small!!
Update: It is now June and I am already consistently running at least 6 miles at least once a week... major improvements! Also, I am hosting and participating in a panel called Planning Beyond Tomorrow: A Panel Addressing Children’s Unique Needs, July 24, to help educate parents, friends, siblings, etc. If interested in attending please visit https://lnkd.in/gxtmRxY.
