Welcome to My Personal Page
Join me in my efforts to support Autism Speaks!
As a public servant, firefighter, I try to continue that service outside of work in my community. This year, I wanted to step up and pledge more of myself to helping others and to great causes, especially one that is near and dear to my heart. My nephew has both Autism and Cystic Fibrosis. It also happens that my wife, Allie, has several people on her side of the family that have Autism as well.
So I’ve teamed up with Autism Speaks to participate in their Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Fundraising Event (January 9-12, 2020). The event is named the Dopey Challenge which includes running a 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, and then a Full Marathon in four consecutive days. Unfortunately, I’m not smart enough to develop a cure or track down the gene that predisposes people to Autism, but I am capable and willing to destroy my body in hopes of Spreading Awareness and Raising Funds for this cause. In my mind, the physical demand is the easy part, it’s the fundraising ($1900 minimum) that will be difficult.
It’s my hope that I can raise more than my minimum to benefit this great organization. And if you are making a donation I want to sincerely thank you; not only for helping me with my pledge but also for helping people like my nephew and everyone else with Autism.
For a little more information, Autism Speaks has made the following below. Thank you again for your donation.
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates 1 in 59 children is on the autism spectrum.
Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. They empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information covering the life span.
Autism Speaks enhances lives today and is accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow.
Thank you for helping me reach my goal. Your support is greatly appreciated!
