Join us in our efforts to support Autism Speaks, and run with us in Berlin!
Family and friends!
On September 27, 2020, we have the fantastic opportunity of running in the Berlin Marathon which, as nerdy runners like us would appreciate, is known as the course where world records are broken (it’s flat and fast!). We doubt we would break the world record this year (though hopes are high - haha), but we would try our best to run at least 26.2 miles, cross the finish line in one piece, and have enough strength to peel our post-race bananas.
Most importantly, we also have an opportunity to do our fundraising best for Autism Speaks, and to run in support of and in honor of individuals with autism, their families, caregivers, and educators. Many of you know why this cause is close to our hearts, and we know this cause is close to many of your hearts as well.
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 1 in 59 children is on the autism spectrum.
Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. They empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information covering the life span. Autism Speaks enhances lives today and is accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow.
Thank you in advance for helping us reach our goal, and for running with us in Berlin!
With Much Love and Gratitude, Clarissa and Michael.
