My Benny was about 18 months old when I started noticing something was special about him. He was so smart, counting to 100 before he was 2 (yes, seriously)! He was also very particular about how he played and I could be right in front of him without him seeing me. Many questions, appointments, and tests later we confirmed our Benny was autistic.
Since then, we have spent a lot of time trying to learn, to understand and do everything we can to work for Benny but nobody works harder than Benny himself. He does this in large part with help we have received from our local Autism Center here in Cadillac, Michigan. He is doing things we were not sure he would do, including potty training and telling us what he wants using pictures and more and more, words.
Being the parent to a child with autism is one of the most amazing, difficult and rewarding things I have ever faced and there are many other families like mine going through the same thing and in need of resources to do it. Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Thank you so much for reading about us. Please donate if you can and if not, please share our link and story. Thank you.
