AUTISM SPEAKS WALK
Hi, My name is Tate Hartley, and I am a Senior at Burlingame High School. I will be doing a 5k walk on Saturday, July 4 at 9:00 AM PDT to raise money for Autism Speaks. I hope you can join me.
Why I am doing this walk for Autism Speaks? Autism Speaks improves lives today and accelerates research for those affected by ASD. One area of interest to me is related to researching a possible cause for Auditory Processing challenges (for which I have) in which different areas of the parts of the brain would not be able to transmit signals very efficiently to other areas in a timely manner, thus causing complications that affect language, problem solving skills, social skills as well as several other things.
The second area of concern for me is for making sure that everyone gets the help they need. Blacks and Hispanics that have some form of ASD are statistically shown to have a decreased chance of getting diagnosed, and therefore not getting the support they need.
I will be doing a 5k walk on Saturday, July 4 at 9:00 AM PDT to raise money for Autism Speaks. If you do not have time to do the walk, no problem, as you can still donate what you can to Autismspeaks.org. Thanks to everyone involved.
