Autism Speaks 5K / 1 Mile Walk

Team Ben

To learn more about Ben or to make a donation, please visit Team Ben's page: Thank you for your support!
Our hero, Ben, graduates on June 9th. We will be there along with his parents and his other grandparents. His senior picture for the yearbook includes the eagle as a symbol of freedom. He is wearing his Mickey Mouse T-shirt. We had fun making these tie-dye shirts with his family in Disney’s Hilton Head Resort in 2017.
As you know, Ben had many surgeries, including the transplant when he was 8. His heart is doing well. He struggles with some of the challenges of autism. This summer, Ben enters adult services for people who have special needs, including autism. He begins a work-study program. He will attend the community college to complete his high school diploma and begin his program for the AA degree while he works with the support of a job coach.
Research for understanding autism has made strides, but much more is needed for early detection, education, job opportunities, and independent living.
Over the years, thanks to you, we’ve raised and donated over $28,000. It would be great if we could make the total $30,000 this year. The corporate matching funds and the donations from the Knights of Columbus have been very helpful in the process, too. New this year you can send this link to your friends on any social media to invite them to join us.
We appreciate your support through the years and hope that we can count on you again this year.
You can send a check payable to Autism Speaks (with Team Ben noted in the donation line) to us at 8502 Buckhannon Drive, Rockville, MD 20854.
