Why I Walk for Autism Speaks
First and foremost I walk for Bryce! But I also walk for all those individuals and families that have come before and after him. Having been on this journey for over 20 years, I have seen so many changes while navigating our life as a family with a loved on with Autism. I am truly thankful that today there is Autism Speaks to help those families (myself included) have a resource they can go to for help. This includes finding resources (for a recent diagnosis, a move or additional needs), attending Town Hall meetings or education programs regarding numerous topics, having an advocate to push issues that benefit our community as a whole, and to fund a lot of programs (locally and nationally) that serve our community. Like me, no one is perfect and there is always improvements that can be made, but having been involved with leadership here in Georgia, I can tell you that there is much more being done that we all will never know or appreciate, by hard working staff that makes it happen. Having been around when we really had no where to turn, I am thankful every day that I can refer people to Autism Speaks to get the help, assistance and information they need, especially at a time when their world has been turned upside down and to make their lives a little easier.
I hope you will support my efforts to raise the funds that make all this possible and make a difference for all on the Autism Spectrum!
