Ethan's Handy Helpers
Ethan has developed into an exceptional young boy with the help of his school, therapists, and family and friends. However, when Ethan was 18 months old, he stopped talking completely. We saw his doctor, who suggested he see a speech therapist. After a few visits, his speech therapist suggested we contact the Marcus Autism Center. On June 4, 2014, 4 days before our son's 2nd birthday, he was diagnosed with autism. On that day, it felt like devastating news. However, after speech therapy, occupational therapy, and amazing support from friends & family, Ethan is talking nonstop. He is now almost 7 years old, attends Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, and is making daily progress in school with social situations and reads at a second grade level. Autism Speaks and the Marcus Autism Center helped Ethan come as far as he has and provided us with the tools we needed to support our son in as many ways as possible. Each donation helps fund research and provides support for families with children on the spectrum.
