My Journey (I Am A Warrior)
I walk because I was born with Asperger's Syndrome which is a rare type of Autism. I started off my journey as shy, nervous, and not very talkative in Elementary school. The only people I talked to were my 3 or 4 close friends, my parents, and my teachers aid. My shyness continued throughout middle school but I went into "Self Contained Classes" which really helped me out a lot. My middle school days were not too good because I got bullied a lot. Kids were teasing me and telling me what to do a lot. High School was probably my breakout point. It was not until Sophomore year that 2 of my friends introduced me to the Stage One drama club at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. I auditioned for the musical "Annie" and I really enjoyed my time doing it. So I continued doing theatre my whole high school career and loved every minute of it. Roles I have previously played were Ed Carmichael in "You Can't Take It With You" and Seymour Krelborn in "Little Shop Of Horrors". I enjoyed doing theatre in high school that I have become a theatre major at Salem State University. I am currently in my Junior year at Salem State University pursuing a career in BA Theatre Performance and a minor in music. I am also a member of my school's acapella group known as Ssockapella and I am also Treasurer for a school club known as Best Buddies. It just shows that even people like me can change so much. As I often say to myself, "If you can think it, it can happen. Anything's possible." Together, we can do this walk and all be warriors!!
