Why I Walk for Autism Speaks
I walk for Autism Speaks because my grandson, James, is on the Autism Spectrum. James is 16 and enjoys attending AHRD Middle School in Brooklyn. This year he has become a wiz texting on a cell phone and it's a joy to get his "Good Night" messages - complete with emojs! - every evening! His other big accomplishment was last January when his Uncle Mark & I took him to see his first Broadway show - SpongeBob, the Musical! (He's come a l-o-n-g way from his first Autism-Friendly movie in November, 2015!!) And a lot of that journey is thanks to his experiences sponsored by NYC Autism Speaks - the annual Macy's Santaland; Jet Blue's Airport event; Microsoft's Little Bits! All of these experiences were made possible by Autism Speaks parterning with companys to prepare employees (even Santa!) to work with chirldren on the Spectrum! In September The James Gang will be walking again to help raise the money needed for Autism Speaks to continue its fantastic work! Help us with any donation you can make - no matter how small, it will be greatly appreciated!!!
