Our first walk for Autism Speaks to support others like Sydney
Hi Family & Friends. This is our family first walk supporting Autism Speaks and other organizations that have provided tremendous support for our family. It was a challenging 4 years for us. Raising a child with special needs literally takes a whole village and we would be in much worse shape, physically and mentally, without ACES, SARS, Trumpet, and Kaiser. The huge amount of monthly/quarterly paperwork, appointments, evaluations, services, deadlines, medical checkups for eyes, ears, physical therapy, occupational therapy, ABA, speech, medical-cal, primary insurance, evaluations to maintain service, scheduling, testing were intense. Sydney needed help to learn how to drink water, swallow food, chew food, walk without falling every 5 minutes, not throwing tantrum, sleep through the night, ask for food, not hurting herself.
Today, we took her to the hospital for a blood draw and Kaiser kindly provided us with a private room with 3 nurses and the most experienced ones to draw her blood. I mean, how sweet is that? Thank you to all the nurses and service workers!
Would you consider supporting us to raise awareness for Autism and help others like Sydney?
Much love and many thanks to all of you!
