Why I Walk for Autism Speaks
Today 1 in 59 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. It has been almost one year and a half since our Lucas became part of that 1. While this has been a very difficult time for us, we are confident that with a lot of love and therapy he will continue to overcome many of the challenges he faces.
This year on April 28th, in honor of Lucas and all the amazing children and adults like him, we are participating in the Autism Speaks Walk to raise funds for the mission of this organization – to further research, advocacy, resources and acceptance for those with autism and their families. I am asking you to please support the mission of this great organization by donating and helping me to meet my fundraising goal or joining our team to help us make a bigger impact for the autism community. Last year was our first year participating and our team was among the top fundraising teams in the Miami walk. I know that this year with your help, we can do much better!
In case you don’t know him, here is a bit about our tiny hero: He is a happy, affectionate, smart and beautiful little boy. He makes us smile every day, inspires and motivates us to be better people and parents and has made us stronger than we ever thought possible. We give thanks every day that we were chosen to be his parents. We are truly the lucky ones. Thank you in advance for your support, it really means the world to us!
