Why I Walk for Autism Speaks
I participated in my first Autism Speaks walk 12 years ago! It has so hard to believe. It was then that Alpha Xi Delta, my sorority, had begun their philanthropic partnership that has raised ovr $10 million! My first walk, was Milwaukee's first walk. And i've been walking and volunteering ever since.
You may ask why I choose to continue my involvement at the walk, on the walk committee and fundraising for this organization. This answer is I walk for the people I've met, or even haven't met, who are impacted by autism. I walk to improve the future for those impacted by autism. I walk for a better quality of life, for work opportunities, for research of treatments and best practices, for advocacy at all levels, and for each and every person impacted by autism and those who love them.
I have had the honor to meet so many incredible people in my volunteer role with Autism Speaks. I walk for them. I walk for my students and their families, so they have all the opportunities possible, in a world full of acceptance and love.
I am honored to be walking in my 12th Autism Speaks Walk and to be serving on the Walk committee this year.
