The women of the Delta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta at The Long Island University at Post are raising money for Autism Speaks. The event aims to raise vital funding for Autism Speaks to carry out its mission and to increase understanding, acceptance and awareness of autism in our local community. Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates 1 in 59 children is on the autism spectrum. Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life-span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. Autism Speaks is a wonderful organization and you can help make a difference in the lives of those with autism! All proceeds will go to Autism Speaks.
