Why We Walk for Autism Speaks 2018 Walk in Miami !
Hello Dear Friends and Family !
Thank you for supporting us in our page and registering for the 2018 Autism Speaks Walk in MIAMI !We have been walking with my family since 2008, Celebrating 10 years. We walk for one reason and we fundraise for another.
The important thing for you to know as father, mother, sibling, family or friend of someone you love with autism is that you are not alone and we are all a strong community who cares together!
My family walks to connect and share. Our son, Marc, was only 7 when we attended our first walk to learn more about his autism. We wanted to meet other parents like ourselves and learn what they knew. Over the years, we gained a terrific network of community support and many great friends. We learned the ins and outs of financial assistance, education, health care, and therapies. We continue to use many of the resources from Autism Speaks (Ie ToolKits, Seminars and now Mobile Apps. Important information that has made Marc’s world a better place !
But we fundraise to have a voice. We recognize the value of having a platform g like Autism Speaks represent us; to be our voice with legislators, to provide access to the information and resources we need, to support research and medical discovery, and to help fund local services. Collectively, through Autism Speaks, we are able to leverage our efforts for everyone in our community and around the globe.
So as you are getting ready to form your teams, to connect and share – don’t forget the value of having a strong voice through fundraising.
Wilson, Marc, Diana and Mike.
