Mission and Activities

Autism Speaks aims to create an inclusive world for all individuals with autism throughout their lifespan. 

• Advocacy: Promoting policies and legislation that support individuals with autism and their families.

• Services and Supports: Providing resources and support for autistic individuals and their families.

• Research and Innovation: Funding research into the causes and treatments of autism spectrum disorder.

• Awareness Campaigns: Conducting public awareness initiatives, such as the annual “Light It Up Blue” campaign during Autism Awareness Month.​

In 2016, Autism Speaks updated its mission statement to remove the term "cure," reflecting a shift towards acceptance and support rather than seeking a cure for autism.
