In the 2025 XMP Training Schedule, you may have noticed that on July 4th, it lists the Autism Potomac 5K run. Each of the past several years we have had an XMP team of runners participate in this fun race that also raises funds for a great cause. The Autism Speaks Potomac 5K is a great way to get your Friday miles run in the morning before going on to 4th of July parties and fireworks.
I hope you will consider joining me and other MCRRC & XMP runners to support Autism Speaks 5K! You can register as part of the XMP team (the link below should take you to registering as part of the MCRRC XPM team (and may still be good for a reduced rate). In addition to the 5K, there is a 1K walk for family members/friends who are not runners but might want to join you.
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.
Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. They empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information covering the life span.
Autism Speaks enhances lives today and is accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow.
Thank you for helping us reach our goal and running this fun 5K race. Your support is greatly appreciated!
