My name is Austin Kim, a junior at Northwestern University, currently preparing to run the 2025 Chicago Marathon next October! I've decided to run for Autism Speaks, to support Autism research and resources for families with autistic children. 

My younger cousin Tyler is autistic and watching him grow up has been a joy. It has also been a major lesson that so many people see the world completely differently than most of us. Autism is a spectrum disorder that affects 1 in 36 children in the US in a variety of ways. It's incredibly important to normalize conversations about special needs and address the ways we can support our loved ones with differing levels of ability -- whether they're visible disabilities or not!

Autism Speaks is an organization dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. They empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information covering the life span.
