This year, I'm honored to be running the Berlin Marathon as a member of the Autism Speaks charity team, a cause that means a great deal to me and my family.

My cousin Jack was diagnosed with autism as a child, and I've witnessed the challenges and strengths that come with that journey, not just for Jack, but for his whole family. His sister, Katie, has dedicated her career to helping others as a special education teacher, and his father, my Uncle Keith, has always been an inspiration to me. My Uncle Keith's own passion for running and the many marathons he's completed are a big part of why I set a goal to run all six World Marathon Majors, and Berlin is my next step toward that dream.

I run because it's something I love. But this time, I'm running for something far bigger than myself - for the families, like Jack's, who navigate the complexities of autism every day, and for the hope that organizations like Autism Speaks provide.
