I will be running the Disney 10K to support Autism Speaks!  As many of you are aware, this cause is important to my family.  My son JT was diagnosed when he was 3 years old.  We navigated a world filled with early intervention, IEPs, and various providers (PT, OT, Speech).  JT is an amazing young man who has persevered and worked through many challenges.  He’s been treated by some with kindness and compassion.  He’s also been misunderstood and mistreated.  I’m so proud of him and know he has a bright future ahead of him.  

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.

Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. They empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information covering the life span.
