Hi everyone,

I am running the Disney World Wine & Dine 5k to raise funds to support Autism Speaks! This event is special to me for several reasons.

I am running in honor of my 14-year-old grandson Cameron. Cameron is one of the 4% of kids diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Autism spectrum disorder refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.

Cameron is a bright, chatty, sensitive and empathetic little guy. He loves his family (and, like most teenagers, his screen time!). His family adores him and would do anything for him.

As you may know, my husband Jim was an avid runner. Shortly after Cameron was diagnosed with ASD, we learned about an Autism Speaks! road race. Although Jim's racing days were behind him, he was determined to complete the race. One of my happiest memories is of us crossing the finish line of Papa's final race together...all for our special little guy.

Now, it's my turn to continue our tradition of running to support Autism Speaks! I'll be turning 80 in June and I am determined to complete the Disney 5k in honor of Cameron and his Papa.
