Last year I did a thing called the Dopey Challenge which is running 48.6 miles over 4 days for fun and to help raise money for a great organization called Autism Speaks. Well I am planning to do this craziness again. Why? Well I like running and pain and I really like raising money for Autism Speaks.
When we found out that James was Autistic 16 yrs ago we found Autism Speaks. They provided resources to understand what Autism was and what the best treatments for success were. Their recommendations guided us to help him succeed and be who he is today. Then when he turned 18 and became an “adult”, Autism Speaks resources helped us understand what the best choices for guardianship would be to help him live his best life. This is why I am willing to run 48.6 mile to help raise funds for them. This year I raised the bar and have a $1,900 fundraising goal. Why? Why not?
Here are 3 ways you can help.
1. Make a donation through this page.
2. Share this page on your social media and with your friends and family. Did you know that in the US 1 in 54 children born will have Autism. Autism Speaks provides resources to help identify signs of Autism as early as 6 months old and earlier diagnosis and treatment can make a huge difference is abilities later on in life. (If you know James we suspected Autism at 6 months and he was in different therapies that made a huge difference in his abilities now).
3. Visit https://www.autismspeaks.org and find out what they do. They have resources for every aspect of Autism all free.
Thanks You for your support!
