Join me in my efforts to support Autism Speaks!
Now is a very important time to support organizations that help individuals with disabilities, like Emily. Budgets are being cut, and unfortunately, the first things to go are often programs that help the most vulnerable among us. This is a very difficult time for our country and our world. I know many of you have suffered in unique and personal ways. I am asking you to consider helping me raise money for Autism Speaks, an organization that provides invaluable services to people with developmental disabilities.
Many of these individuals have been hit hard by the pandemic and quarantine, specifically those that reside in assisted living homes (again, like Em), resulting in further isolation from loved ones, confusion, and fear. Emily is fortunate to have such a loving and financially stable support system, but many of those people in a similar situation are not as lucky. And that’s what it is, luck. Luck that Emily was born in my family. Not good luck or bad luck, just pure chance. Any one of us had the same chance at birth to be born with a particular circumstance beyond our control. It is our responsibility, as lucky ones, to help those that are in need. This is something I believe in deeply.
Please consider giving anything you can to help vital programs for people like Em who have not been as fortunate as we have. Any day our situation could change, and I would hate to think my child would suffer because of financial need. No one should have to worry about that, not in this country, not in this world, not in this century.
Thank you for reading this far, and again, please consider giving whatever you can. If you can’t do it now, maybe you’ll be able to in the future. My family is grateful to all those who have and continue to support us in many amazing ways. Thank you, and may you and your family stay safe and healthy.
