Join me in my efforts to support Autism Speaks!
I am raising funds to support a cause that is important to me while accomplishing a personal challenge.
I am running my first marathon at the Big Sur International on Sunday, April 24th, 2022. Until recently, I never imagined I would run a marathon and am so excited to finally go for it! I started training in January, completing more than 60 pre-dawn / early morning runs since then as part of a beginner's plan, pushing to new limits and learning so much along the way.
Now with LESS THAN A WEEK to go - the moment of truth - I must actually admit that I'm still pretty shy about fundraising and asking for donations. From the moment I decided to do the Big Sur Marathon I knew I wanted to support Autism Speaks. I chose to run for them due to a personal connection and because of the great work they do.
Here's a bit more information about Autism Speaks:
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates 1 in 54 children is on the autism spectrum.
Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. They empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information covering the life span.
Autism Speaks enhances lives today and is accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow.
THANK YOU for helping me reach my goal. Your support is greatly appreciated!
