Join me in my efforts to support Autism Speaks!

I am raising funds to support a cause that is important to me while accomplishing a personal goal. As many of you know, my daughter Alani is on the spectrum. She is a beautiful young soul, who of course I love dearly. Lately, I have been running 5ks and when I saw there was an Autism event, I wanted to gather her loved ones and putting us together to run/walk together in awareness of Alani and others on the spectrum.

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.

Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. They empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information covering the life span. 

Autism Speaks enhances lives today and is accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow.

¡Únase a mí en mis esfuerzos para apoyar a Autism Speaks!

Estoy recaudando fondos para apoyar una causa que es importante para mí y al mismo tiempo lograr una meta personal. Como muchos de ustedes saben, mi hija Alani está en el espectro. Ella es un alma joven y hermosa, a quien por supuesto amo muchísimo. Últimamente he estado corriendo 5 kilómetros y cuando vi que había un evento de autismo, quise reunir a sus seres queridos y juntarnos para correr/caminar juntos en conciencia de Alani y otros en el espectro.

El autismo, o trastorno del espectro autista, se refiere a una variedad de condiciones caracterizadas por desafíos con las habilidades sociales, comportamientos repetitivos, habla y comunicación no verbal.

Autism Speaks se dedica a promover soluciones, en todo el espectro y a lo largo de la vida, para las necesidades de las personas con autismo y sus familias a través de la defensa y el apoyo; aumentar la comprensión y aceptación del trastorno del espectro autista; y promover la investigación sobre las causas y mejores intervenciones para el trastorno del espectro autista y afecciones relacionadas. Proporcionan a las personas con autismo y a sus familias recursos, herramientas en línea e información que cubren toda la vida.

Autism Speaks mejora la vida hoy y está acelerando un espectro de soluciones para el mañana.
