Join me in my efforts to support Autism Speaks!
Jacob and Ben have a genetic disorder called Fragile X Syndrome. Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is the most prevalent cause of inherited intellectual disability and is a leading genetic cause of autism. FXS affects 1 in 4,000 boys and 1 in 8,000 girls.
Jacob and Ben’s autism behaviors are directly linked to their genetic disorder Fragile X Syndrome. And while there is a direct correlation to the cause of their ASD many kids with autism cause is unknown. Our family believes in helping to support the efforts for Autism research and Fragile X research, if you can’t donate monetarily than consider joining our 5k Autism Speaks team and walk/run with us on April 8.
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates 1 in 54 children is on the autism spectrum.
Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. They empower people with autism and their families with resources, online tools and information covering the life span.
Autism Speaks enhances lives today and is accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow.
Thank you for helping me reach my goal. Your support is greatly appreciated!
