We walk for our son, Peter. Everyday we get to see the amazing and beautiful way he sees the world. Autism does not define Peter, it is a small piece of the puzzle that makes him the extraordinary boy he is. As we walk through our daily journey, we see the looks, the judgement and the overall lack of understanding and awareness our society has of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our goal is to bring awareness and understanding to everyone and anyone we come in contact with. Peter has been and continues to go to therapies, including Autism Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy and Occupational Therapy (OT) for the last 10 years, since his diagnosis at 2 years old. With the help of his team of therapists, his determination to work hard and not give up and the grace of God, Peter is thriving! He enjoys Karate, storytelling, video games, dancing and all the superhero’s…especially Marvel and the DC Universe. Your support will help Peter bring awareness, acceptance, understanding and opportunities for so many families to receive support for therapies that Peter has had. We can’t do this without you, so we truly appreciate your support!
In addition to coming together in person to help create a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential, each Walk will retain the fun, remote-participation options introduced last year. Your safety is our priority — and no matter how you choose to participate, your support will be recognized and celebrated. Our community is stronger together, and we can't wait to celebrate one another and the amazing impact we are making together for people with autism and their families. Whether near or far, let's rally together on Walk day!
