Dear family, friends and supporters,
On April 19th, I will once again be participating in the Autism Speaks Walk—an event that has become deeply meaningful to me over the years. For nearly a decade, I’ve been involved in advocacy efforts to raise awareness and support for individuals and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. As many of your know, this work is personal. My grandson, Seth, inspires me every day, and it’s in his honor that I continue to speak up, show up, and walk. Throughout the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting with legislators, participating in community events, and joining thousands of families at past Walks.
Autism Speaks provides vital services to families across the country, including:
- Resources for early diagnosis and intervention
- Support for navigating education and healthcare systems
- Research initiatives that advance understanding and promote inclusion
These programs make a real difference, but the need continues to grow. More families, particularly in underserved communities, are seeking support; more adults with autism are looking for employment and community opportunities; and more research is needed to ensure every individual can thrive. That’s why I’m reaching out today.
I’m asking for your continued support—whether through a donation, joining the Walk, or sharing this message with others. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps Autism Speaks expand its reach and deepen its impact.
If you’d like to donate, please consider supporting my team, Seth’s Patrol. Your generosity will help fuel the mission that means so much to my family and to countless others.
And if you’re able, I would love to have you walk with us on April 19th. The energy, the community, and the sense of purpose are truly unforgettable. Thank you for continuing to stand with me, to support Seth and countless others, and creating a world where all individuals with autism can reach their full potential.
With gratitude and kindness,
Charlene Thomas, Co-Team Captain
