I am an Autism Dad and a lead member of the Volunteer Organizing Committee for Autism Speaks New England. As i write this, the team is preparing to hold Walk events on Boston Common(October 13th) and Hartford, CT(October 20th). I look forward to seeing some familiar faces and making new friends 

I am also the proud father of an amazing 32 yr old named Connor. He is kind, funny, caring, nurturing, and autistic. Lego master builder, video game savant. He reads and writes at a 5th grade level. And if you ever enter a trivia contest involving Star wars, Steam Trains, Pokemon or Sonic the Hedgehog, I’ve got your man
The point I’m trying to make is that Autism is one aspect of Connor, but it does NOT define him

As we have progressed through this journey, I was struck more and more about the need to give back. I also felt it was important for Connor to understand and to appreciate all the people and work dedicated to making his life, and the lives of all those, young and old, on the spectrum, better.
