Noreen, Weller, and I will be driving to Coney Island for a quick dip in the Atlantic this year on February 23rd. It will be my 16th plunge with the Coney Island Polar Bears. We will join friends from previous meet-ups, get dressed up in costumes, and spend up to 15 minutes in the water, no matter the weather. (Yes, it will be cold.) The cause is good, and so is the fun.
It is not just about the cold water swim. It is about doing SOMETHING when we feel like there is nothing we can do. It is about the support, the connections, the services, the legal advocacy, the trainings, the research, the volunteers.... the people. I'm walking and swimming, and posting to raise funds for the mission of Autism Speaks - to fuel innovative research and make connections to critical lifelong supports and services for the autism community. Please support me by donating and help me meet my fundraising goal - and you, too, can join the team and make an impact for people living with autism!
