I'm walking to raise funds for the mission of Autism Speaks - to fuel innovative research and make connections to critical lifelong supports and services for the autism community. My son Jake was diagnosed with PDD- a form of autism which affects his social skills- language -and more at the age of 18 months. He is now an adult living in a group home for 9 years and I have been his advocate for his entire lifetime-with the help of my husband Evan-who passed in 2019. During the past several years-the numbers have sky-rocketed from one in 100 children-to one in 44-and adults are now diagnosed 1 in 45 on the spectrum as well. Please help this community by donating to my fundraiser-which is the largest of the year-Team Jake 2023 for Autism Speaks-Greater Boston walk!
In addition to coming together in person to help create a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential, each Walk will retain the fun, remote-participation options introduced last year. Your safety is our priority — and no matter how you choose to participate, your support will be recognized and celebrated. Our community is stronger together, and we can't wait to celebrate one another and the amazing impact we are making together for people with autism and their families. Whether near or far, let's rally together on Walk day!
