I want to thank all my friends and family, for your support over the years, in honor of Christian. Your donations and participation towards the Autism Walk have meant a great deal to us. Christian has come such a long way over the years on his journey, and has developed into an amazing young man!
Instead of talking about all of the things he cannot do because of Autism, I want to talk about some of the things he has been able to do...thanks to all the support he has received. Christian is officially a Red Hawk, and his first day at Montclair State University was this week! He is so excited to begin work on his Animation and VFX major...which is his a perfect venue for his creative personality. He continues to to work on his passion project (The World of Christoon). He loves to draw and create and edit funny videos. He is smart, creative, inquisitive, funny, a prankster, well mannered, and compassionate. While all of those things may not seem like that big of a deal for a parent of a neurotypical child, for an Autism parent, every accomplishment is important big or small. Everyday, he makes me more proud, and I cannot wait to see what's next!!
I am fortunate to have a child that has been able to make great strides. However, there are many children who will not get a chance to make the same progress. That is why I continue to raise funds for the research, education, and awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder. While there are some common signs of Autism, it is called a spectrum because of how broad the skills, abilities and symptoms are for each child. The need to raise awareness is important, so each child has the opportunity to get the support and therapy they need.
Please consider making a donation to support this very important cause. Life after an Autism diagnosis changes everything you imagined for your child, and the way you go about their journey through life. The more awareness and resources around Autism, can help make those changes a little smoother for families faced with the diagnosis. Again, please think about making a donation, no matter how big or small ever dollar counts. Thank you for your support towards this very important and very personal cause.
I'm walking for CTB!
In addition to coming together in person to help create a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential, each Walk will retain the fun, remote-participation options introduced last year. Your safety is our priority — and no matter how you choose to participate, your support will be recognized and celebrated. Our community is stronger together, and we can't wait to celebrate one another and the amazing impact we are making together for people with autism and their families. Whether near or far, let's rally together on Walk day!
