This year I had the privilege of participating in Autism Speaks Forum and Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill, it was a day of meaningful conversations with our NJ State lawmakers. The day aims to encourage action for pending autism support legislation. It allows us to tell our personal stories and give our lawmakers a glimpse into our daily lives.
The Advocacy Day was truly a transformative experience. I was able to spend time with some extremely inspiring parents, family members, caregivers, as well as adults and children living on the autism spectrum. Our stories, journeys, and experiences were all different, because autism is a spectrum, but what we did have in common other than autism, is the love for our children, and the desire to fight for their futures.
I learned a lot at the forum, hearing from scientists, doctors, educators, caregivers, and lawmakers about how they are working hard to help improve the lives of those living on the autism spectrum. There is still so much to do, to keep moving forward, I hope you will consider donating to my walk this year. Every contribution makes a difference, regardless of amount, and your support is appreciated.
Thank you so much to those who have supported me throughout the years, it truly means a lot with this very personal cause.
