I’m a Proud MOM of a 5 year old Autistic Boy named Michael (Mikey) . I am not Mikey’s biological Mom but I’ve been raising and taking care of him since he turned one. Mikey is a smart, loving & sweet Nonverbal boy. His smile is infectious & fills the whole room with love. Mikey still does not eat solid food only baby food purées. It’s been a long couple of years, learning and growing with Mikey. I waited 11 months to have him evaluated and he’s on a waiting list for an intense feeding therapy in the Bronx near our home.
I’m still learning as a parent & a special needs mom, every day is a new challenge. One thing Mikey has taught me is to never give up because things could always be worse. My boy is so full of life and he never lets anything limit him. And I’m so so very proud of him.
Help support Mikey and help us raise some money for Autism.
In addition to coming together in person to help create a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential, each Walk will retain the fun, remote-participation options introduced last year. Your safety is our priority — and no matter how you choose to participate, your support will be recognized and celebrated. Our community is stronger together, and we can't wait to celebrate one another and the amazing impact we are making together for people with autism and their families. Whether near or far, let's rally together on Walk day!
