This is my little cousin, Zaeem. He is a year younger than me and has been diagnosed with severe autism. Even with the challenges that come with his diagnosis, Zaeem continues to show just how smart, curious, and determined he is. He simply learns in his own way and benefits from a little extra support.
Although I was unable to participate in the Autism Walk this year, the mission continues. I am still raising funds in honor of Zaeem and for all the incredible individuals like him who deserve access to more resources, programs, and opportunities to thrive.
Today, over 70 million children and adults are affected by autism. Each of them has unique strengths, challenges, and potential. Autism Speaks is there for them and you and I can be too.
It?s only through the dedicated support of people like us that Autism Speaks can continue their vital mission work. Each year, the Autism Speaks Autism Response Team makes direct contact with tens of thousands of individuals seeking advice or guidance, and more than one million people access their free nationwide autism services and resources. They also continue to fund and support research to improve the lives of people with autism by investing in science that advances more personalized treatments and therapies.
