Why I Walk for Autism Speaks
I'm walking to raise funds for the mission of Autism Speaks - to fuel innovative research and make connections to critical lifelong supports and services for the autism community. Please support me by donating and help me meet my fundraising goal - and you, too, can join the team and make an impact for people living with autism!
My son Arric (3) was diagnosed with Autism about 4 monts ago. It has been a struggle, but we learn and grow together as a family. When people ask me how I reacted to the news, I at first was ashamed to say that I cried. Yes, I cried, not because I am sad my son has autism. I cried because finally we had answers, and resoures to help Arric succeed in life. I no longer felt like I was crazy, or I had been doing something wrong with my parenting. Arric's Autism does not define him as a person. He defines autism by not letting him stop him in life. He is a happy, fun, smart, loving boy and no diagnoses will take that from him. It is because of organizations like Autism Speak that help us, help him succeed in life. If you can not donate, spread the word. Come walk wiht ud for Arric and be apart of something bigger.
