Our 3 year old son Carter was diagnosed with Autism this year. I've seen how much stress it's placed on us, but thankfully we're lucky to have been blessed with great health insurance and access to so many amazing therapies for him. Many weeks consist of multiple visits for therapies or doctors appointments, often at different locations. We often found ourselves driving 30-40 minutes to whichever location had the shortest waitlist.
Carter will be in preschool 4 days a week, with additional in-person speech therapy weekly and then normal doctors visits. It seems Tami & I have made trades at least weekly to keep up with various appointments . It's easy to see how stressful this entire process can be for a family, especially those with other kids and with jobs that are not flexible in terms of work hours.
Our goal is to raise acceptance, awareness, and funds for those who are not as fortunate, so that all kids can receive the necessary treatments and hopefully alleviate even a little stress for some of those families. I look at it as a blessing that we've been given the opportunity to see the world through Carter's eyes. We appreciate you checking out our page, and even if you can't donate, please just spread kindness and teach your kids to treat everyone with respect :)
