Hi my name is Messiah Leon and I am 6 years old . My parents have created a team for you to come out and join me in bringing awareness to those around you and the community.
Did you know over 70 Million children and adults are affected by autism. Each of them have unique strengths, challenges and potentials.
Here is my story : At the age of 2 1/2 I was diagnosed with speech delay. I started pre-school and speech therapy at the age of 3. My biggest challenges have been speech & sensory input. Change can be difficult for me from time to time: new places, new people, new things and anything out of routine. My parents knew that I was a little different from my other siblings therefor they began to seek assistance and resources for me. At the age of 4 I was formally diagnosed with mild autism and was referred to behavioral therapy, occupational therapy & speech therapy. Working close with my therapist and the fact that my parents never gave up on me and always advocated for my well being. I have found that I am a gestalt processor and now I can socialize with friends & family members and go to new places without having a meltdown. It's through the dedicated support of the people that have worked close to me I am where I am today .
Autism doesn't have a look , We are just wired different and that is okay.
It’s only through the dedicated support of people like us that Autism Speaks
can continue their vital mission work. Each year, the Autism Speaks
Autism Response Team makes direct contact with tens of thousands of individuals looking for advice or guidance and more than one million people access their free nationwide autism services and resources. They
continue to partner and support research to improve the lives of people
with autism by investing in science that will allow more personalized
treatments and therapies. You can find out even more about where your fundraising dollars go at autismspeaks.org/our-work.
Please join me by donating to help me reach my fundraising goal. Together,
we have the power to enhance the lives of people with autism and make a meaningful difference. Thanks so much for your support!
