Hi my name is Messiah Leon, and I am now 7 years old. My parents and I have created a team for you to come out and join us in brining awareness to autism and supporting families in our community.
Did you know over 70 Million children and adults are affected by autism. Each of them have unique strengths challenges and potentials.
Here is a little about me : At age 2 1/2 I was diagnosed with speech delay, and by the age of 3 I started preschool and speech therapy. My biggest challenges have been with speech & sensory input. New places, new people, and changes in routine can be hard for me. At age 4 I was formally diagnosed with mild autism and began behavioral , occupational and speech therapy. My parents never gave up on me and always advocated for my well-being and continue to. I have learned that I am a gestalt processor, which means I now have new ways to communicate, make friends, and enjoy new experiences without meltdowns. Thanks to the dedicated support of my family, therapist and community, I continue to grow and thrive each year.
Why We Walk: Autism doesn't have a "look" We are just wired differently-and that's a beautiful thing!
Each year, Autism Speaks helps millions of families like mine in providing free resources, answering questions, and funding researches that improves lives. Your donations help continue this vital work.
Please join me by donating to my page and helping me reach my fundraising goal for this year's walk. Together we can enhance the lives of people with autism and make a meaningful difference.
Thank you so much for your support!
