Help us reach our goal!

In addition to coming together in person to help create a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential, each Walk will retain the fun, remote-participation options introduced last year. Your safety is our priority — and no matter how you choose to participate, your support will be recognized and celebrated. Our community is stronger together, and we can't wait to celebrate one another and the amazing impact we are making together for people with autism and their families. Whether near or far, let's rally together on Walk day!

Mateo's Minions

Welcome back Team Mateo.
We are back for our 2nd year doing The Autism walk. Bringing awareness to Autism is so important to me as a mother because I am the biggest advocate for my son. Bringing awareness to Autism can help people better understand Mateo and others on the spectrum.
Mateo was 4 years old when diagnosed with Autism level 3, which is the most severe. We were told that he would be nonverbal and most likely make little progress. For those that know Mateo, that's definitely not the case. He's made so much progress with his speech and communication. We've transitioned out of special education and he's been doing great in a general Ed classroom. He is loving 1st grade!!!!!!
Mateo puts in so much work towards his goals. Speech 2x weekly, OT 2x weekly, RSP 90 minutes a week, on top of sports. He can be such a social kid once he allows you to be apart of his world. He loves playing sports, especially baseball and basketball. He is also a little techie, who can figure out how to work electronics. He has a nurturing and loving soul that also comes with a very honest opinionated voice.
Part of this journey has been for us to really understand autism and educating ourselves on how we can help Mateo become more independent, as well as successful in navigating through this crazy world we live in.
Doing this walk would mean the world to US! Please join us and see how broad of a spectrum Autism is.

With Love,
The Romo Family
