We walk in honor of our Arlo! Arlo is 4 years old. He loves space, Pixar movies, school, and cake pops. He loves sensory toys- give this boy a bowl of water beads or shaving cream and he'll be psyched. He jumps, dances, and flaps his arms when he is excited. If you're lucky enough, he might even ask you to Dance with Arlo. Oh my goodness how he loves to be tickled. He's so smart, sweet, funny, loving, and happy. Arlo is autistic. He was diagnosed at the age of 2. He also has expressive and receptive language disorder, so while he's verbal, we're still working on conversations. He won't really tell you his name or age, but he can count into the thousands and knows 3rd grade geometry. He thinks and processes the world in his own beautiful way. While we were busy trying to get him to say hi as a toddler, he was labeling dinosaurs, planets, and sea creatures. Like any other person, there are many things he is really good at, and some things at are more difficult.

We are walking to raise funds for the mission of Autism Speaks - to fuel innovative research and make connections to critical lifelong supports and services for the autism community- to ensure a world of inclusion, acceptence, accomodation, and awareness for Arlo and the autism community, so those who think and process the world differently can live their best lives.
