Autism Speaks has promoted awareness, acceptance, and research of Autism Spectrum Disorders for 20 years, and the world for those living with ASDs is significantly better in 2025 than it was in 2002 when our son, Jacob was diagnosed with autism.
Autism disorders are on a “spectrum.” Just as neurotypical people are all unique, each person with ASD is an original, so therapies, treatments, and accommodations in schools, employment, and community need to be flexible. AS embraces this truth about autism not only across that spectrum but across the life span. As with our son Jacob, the children who walked their first Walk Now for Autism Speaks when they were toddlers are now 20-somethings, looking to have a meaningful and productive roles in their communities.
THAT is why we have WALKED with Autism Speaks for so many years, and why this year we RIDE…30 miles to raise funds and awareness for this cause!
