Help us reach our goal!

In addition to coming together in person to help create a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential, each Walk will retain the fun, remote-participation options introduced last year. Your safety is our priority — and no matter how you choose to participate, your support will be recognized and celebrated. Our community is stronger together, and we can't wait to celebrate one another and the amazing impact we are making together for people with autism and their families. Whether near or far, let's rally together on Walk day!

Dear Family, Friends and Associates:

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children in the United States today.

Signs of Autism usually appear by age 2 or 3. Some associated development delays can appear even earlier, and often, it can be diagnosed as early as 18 months. Research shows that early intervention leads to positive outcomes later in life for people with autism.

Several factors may influence the development of autism, and it is often accompanied by sensory sensitivities and medical issues such as gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, seizures or sleep disorders, as well as mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression and attention issues.

We know that there is not one autism but many subtypes, most influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Some people with ASD may require significant support in their daily lives, while others may need less support and, in some cases, live entirely independently.

On Sunday, November 12, 2023, SITE FLORIDA & CARIBBEAN is joining TEAM JOHN MATTHEW and walking to raise funds in support of the mission of Autism Speaks – to fuel innovative research and make connections to critical lifelong supports and services needed for all children and families affected by this devastating neurodevelopmental disorder, including my beautiful 25 year old SON!.

Please support us by donating and/or you too, can join the team and make an impact for people living with autism!

Respectfully,......Thank you!
